Safia Farole, PhD
Dissertation Coach for PhD Students in the Social Sciences
I provide support and accountability for social science PhD students in the early, middle, or late-stages of their dissertations.
Is this you?
Your coursework is finished, but you feel lost and overwhelmed, and you don’t know where to start on your dissertation.
You’ve written and defended your prospectus, but you’re unsure how to turn it into a dissertation.
You’ve collected all the data for your dissertation, but you are struggling to figure out how to organize it into chapters.
You struggle to get feedback on your dissertation chapters from advisors who ghost you.
You don’t belong to a close-knit cohort, and you struggle alone to figure out how to navigate the dissertation process.
I was once where you are now.
I was once a PhD student at a top program who completed coursework and struggled to develop a feasible dissertation project. The process involved trial and error, which prolonged my time in graduate school.
I did complete my PhD, and I went on to successfully land a tenure-track position. As an Assistant Professor, I have published peer-reviewed journal articles in leading journals in my field. I know what it takes to design and write dissertations that help you finish your degree on time.
Here’s how I can help:
One-on-one coaching
This involves a free initial consult to determine fit.
We meet for 5 one-hour sessions throughout the semester.
Work involves goal setting, accountability for achieving chapter goals, and editing of one chapter.
Dissertation support group
For early, middle, and late-stage dissertation writers.
Groups meet once a week each semester and will include myself and a small group of students.
We will workshop each student’s documents, and they will receive feedback from myself and peers.
